Radiant Worship “Take Me There” (2000) Re-Release 20 Years Later
Back before people told me how I should be singing or playing guitar, I started singing and playing guitar. When worship became the overflow of my heart, the songs changed to worship.
A trip to MorningStar (during a tour) in North Carolina in 1999 significantly changed our sound. (We also started listening to Delirious around the same time!) We were primarily a “Christian rock” band that did some worship.
At a youth event in Wilkesboro, NC, we were able to meet Don Potter and a prophetic singer named “Suzy Wills.” The band had already been listening to much of the NEW (at the time) Morningstar recordings and getting to visit one of their home churches was a real treat. That night in Wilkesboro, Don Potter actually ran sound, and Suzy sang with us! It turned into a several hour worship time that marked our lives. Some things are caught, not taught and we caught a fire of the Spirit that night near Moravian Falls.
The next year Jess’s dad, Calvin (who had booked all the tours and been a spiritual father to so many of us) passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52. He left a massive void in our lives and in our youth group back home that was experiencing somewhat of a revival at the time. We continued to write our own songs, (Including You are Holy, Isaiah 6) and in the summer of 2000, at the age of 23, I led a ministry team for a tour across the US, taking Calvin’s place.
That October in 2000 we recorded, “Radiant Worship - Take Me There” at our youth group, “Revival Generation” in Conroe, Texas. We dedicated the project to Calvin Stanley. It’s raw, no auto-tune or click tracks, but a real, honest capture of this moment in time. Plus Jess Clark sings all over this project, and I love it. I hope it takes you somewhere with the Lord! - Richy Clark
